Flexible Learning. Clear Expectations. Education That Works for Families.
At Patriot Ridge Academy, we believe education should fit into a family’s life without sacrificing academic quality, responsibility, or student achievement.
Every family has different schedules, commitments, and circumstances. We recognize that requiring students to follow the same daily classroom schedule may not be the best approach for everyone.
That’s why Patriot Ridge Academy is being developed around a weekly learning model that gives students greater flexibility while maintaining clear academic expectations and deadlines.
Our goal is simple: provide students with the freedom to learn on a schedule that works for their families while ensuring they receive a meaningful, structured education.
Our Weekly Learning Model
Rather than requiring students to attend classes at specific times every day, Patriot Ridge Academy plans to organize coursework around weekly assignments and deadlines.
Under our proposed model, students would receive access to their assignments at the beginning of each week and have until the end of that week to complete their required coursework.
This approach would allow families to determine when learning takes place throughout the week.
For example, a student might complete more assignments on Monday and Tuesday to accommodate family activities later in the week. Another student might prefer to complete a smaller amount of work each day.
Both approaches would be acceptable as long as students meet their academic requirements and complete assignments by the established deadlines.
We believe this model encourages independence, responsibility, and time management while giving families greater control over their daily schedules.
Weekly Assignment Deadlines
Our proposed weekly schedule would operate as follows:
Monday: Weekly assignments and learning materials become available.
Tuesday through Saturday: Students work through lessons, assignments, assessments, and other required activities at times that work for their families.
Sunday: Weekly assignments are due by 11:59 PM Eastern Time.
Students would not be required to wait until Sunday to submit their work. Assignments could be completed and submitted earlier throughout the week.
Certain assessments, projects, or instructional activities may have additional requirements, which would be communicated in advance.
This schedule is our intended approach and will be finalized before enrollment opens.
The Freedom to Work Ahead
We recognize that students learn at different speeds and that some may be ready to move through material more quickly than others.
Patriot Ridge Academy intends to provide opportunities for students to work ahead when appropriate and when course materials are available.
Students who demonstrate an understanding of their coursework may be able to complete assignments before their scheduled deadlines.
However, working ahead will not eliminate the need to meet academic standards, complete required assessments, or demonstrate mastery of course objectives.
Our goal is to encourage academic progress without placing unnecessary limitations on students who are ready for additional challenges.
Learning Expectations by Grade Level
Elementary School (Kindergarten–5th Grade)
Younger students often benefit from additional structure, routine, and parental involvement.
Elementary students would receive weekly assignments along with recommended learning schedules to help families organize lessons and activities.
Parents and guardians would play an important role in supporting reading, writing, mathematics, and other foundational skills.
Although families would have flexibility in scheduling, we would encourage consistent learning activities throughout the week to help younger students develop strong educational habits.
Middle School (6th–8th Grade)
Middle school students would begin taking greater responsibility for managing their assignments and organizing their time.
Weekly coursework and deadlines would help students develop independence while maintaining accountability.
Families would continue to have an important role in monitoring academic progress and encouraging consistent participation.
Our goal would be to help students build the organizational and study skills needed for high school and beyond.
High School (9th–12th Grade)
High school students would be encouraged to take greater ownership of their education.
Weekly assignments, assessments, and established deadlines would provide structure while allowing students to manage their schedules more independently.
This approach is intended to help students develop time management, personal responsibility, and independent learning skills that can benefit them in college, career training, and future employment.
Certain courses may require additional assessments, projects, or scheduled activities.
Attendance and Academic Participation
Although students would not be required to follow a traditional daily classroom schedule, regular academic participation would remain essential.
Patriot Ridge Academy intends to monitor student engagement through coursework completion, assignment submissions, academic assessments, and other appropriate measures.
We believe flexibility should not mean that students can simply stop participating in their education.
Students would be expected to demonstrate consistent academic progress and communicate when difficulties arise.
Specific attendance and participation requirements will be established in accordance with applicable laws and the academy’s final instructional model.
Late Assignments and Special Circumstances
We understand that unexpected circumstances can occasionally interfere with a student’s ability to complete coursework.
Illness, family emergencies, technology difficulties, and other situations may require additional consideration.
Our goal is to establish a reasonable late-work policy that balances flexibility with accountability.
Students and families would be encouraged to communicate concerns as early as possible so appropriate arrangements can be considered.
Official late-work, extension, and make-up assignment policies will be included in the academy’s Student and Parent Handbook.
Academic Terms and School Calendar
While weekly assignments would provide flexibility in daily learning schedules, Patriot Ridge Academy would still operate within an established academic calendar.
We intend to organize the school year into clearly defined academic terms with established expectations for coursework completion, grading, and student progress.
The academy is evaluating appropriate scheduling options, including semesters or other academic terms.
Official school year dates, academic terms, holidays, and grading periods will be announced before enrollment begins.
Holidays and Family Time
We believe family time is important and that education should allow students to participate in meaningful activities outside their coursework.
Our weekly learning model is intended to give families more freedom when planning appointments, travel, extracurricular activities, and other commitments.
Students would have the ability to organize their weekly assignments around many of these activities, provided they continue meeting academic requirements.
The academy will also establish an official schedule of holidays and academic breaks.
Grading and Academic Progress
Patriot Ridge Academy intends to maintain clear grading standards and provide families with meaningful information about student achievement.
Students would be evaluated based on their understanding of course material, completion of required assignments, assessments, and other established academic expectations.
Parents and guardians would have opportunities to monitor academic progress and identify areas where additional support may be needed.
Final grading procedures, reporting periods, and academic recordkeeping policies will be announced before enrollment opens.
Preparing Students for the Future
We believe learning how to manage time and meet responsibilities is an important part of education.
By providing students with weekly assignments and established deadlines, Patriot Ridge Academy hopes to encourage skills that extend beyond the classroom.
Students would have opportunities to develop independence, organization, accountability, problem-solving abilities, and personal responsibility.
These skills can help prepare students for higher education, career opportunities, and the responsibilities of adulthood.
Academic Calendar Development Notice
Patriot Ridge Academy is currently in development.
Our intended educational model emphasizes weekly assignments, flexible scheduling, and clear academic deadlines rather than mandatory daily classroom attendance.
The proposed Monday-through-Sunday schedule, instructional requirements, academic terms, and other operational policies remain subject to final review.
An official academic calendar and detailed learning expectations will be published before enrollment opens.
